License Dashboard Recognized in New Gartner April 2018 Critical Capabilities for Software Asset Management Tools Report.

License Dashboard scored within the five highest of companies globally for Software Asset Management in all 3 use cases, Basic SAM, Intermediate SAM and Advanced SAM Functionality in a new report released by Gartner. License Dashboard received the highest use case score out of all SAM providers with a product score of 3.97 out of 5 for Basic SAM Functionality in the April 2018 Gartner Critical Capabilities for Software Asset Management Tools report.

According to the report, Basic SAM functionality focuses on SAM functionality for desktop and laptop software consumption and affordability. This use case often involves small-to-midsize enterprises that primarily license software on a deployment basis for use on desktops and laptop environments. These organizations typically have limited resources available to acquire and administer the SAM tool and to conduct in-depth analysis of results. Therefore, they place a higher value on TCO, ease of use, and the ability to discover, identify and normalize software consumption.

License Dashboard General Manager David Chamberlain said, “We believe our inclusion and product score in the report validates License Dashboard’s commitment to providing a SAM solution that is both effective in terms of its capabilities and realistic in terms of return on investment. License Dashboard are a key player in all levels of the market, with suitable options ranging from smaller organisations to the largest of enterprises.

“Further to this, License Dashboard’s SAM solutions can be implemented in a matter of weeks rather than months, speeding up that return on investment for the end user. We are also focussed on the continuing development of our product set, ensuring we can provide an effective SAM solution in the rapidly developing IT world of cloud and SaaS software agreements.”

Gartner evaluated License Dashboard’s flagship License Manager tool as well as the License Dashboard Portal business intelligence application. Further License Dashboard products including Dashboard Discovery, LD ScanWin and LD Web API were also considered in the overall results of the study.

Critical Capabilities Methodology

This methodology requires analysts to identify the critical capabilities for a class of products or services. Each capability is then weighted in terms of its relative importance for specific product or service use cases. Next, products/services are rated in terms of how well they achieve each of the critical capabilities. A score that summarizes how well they meet the critical capabilities for each use case is then calculated for each product/service.
